The Volvo Car Open is an annual tennis tournament held on Daniel Island and features the world’s top female tennis players. When not used for tennis matches, the stadium hosts a variety of concerts, including an annual show by Darius Rucker and his former band, Hootie and the Blowfish. The MUSC Health Stadium, home of the Charleston Battery soccer team, also hosts a variety of sport and entertainment events including weekly outdoor movies for families.

Daniel Island is home to nationally-known businesses such as Blackbaud and Benefitfocus, and it is a short distance to other major corporations like Boeing and SPAWAR. Commuters appreciate the short commute via I-526 to downtown Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, North Charleston, and the Charleston International Airport. As one resident stated, “We really do not need to leave the island, but if we do, we are only 15-minutes away to everywhere else we would want to be.”
